The FlexFire from Hörmann is a textile fire protection curtain for use in construction projects and in the industrial sector. In case of fire, large openings can therefore be closed off within seconds, thus preventing the fire from spreading to adjacent areas of the building.
The use of a textile fire protection curtain is particularly recommended for properties such as hotels, public buildings, offices or department stores. A fire protection curtain such as the Hörmann FlexFire is also particularly suitable for fitting situations with limited space, as it takes up significantly less space than doors.
Fire protection curtain with a fire resistance class up to E120
The Hörmann FlexFire is made of V4A wire-reinforced glass filament fabric and is available in fire resistance classes E30, E60, E90 and E120, depending on the fire protection requirements. This means that the fire protection curtain, in the version as an E120 partition, for example, can withstand up to 120 minutes in the event of a fire.
The fire resistance classes for partition “E” describe the capability of a component with a partitioning function to resist a fire on one side in such a manner as to prevent the fire from spreading to the side not exposed to the fire for 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes in a practical manner.
The fire protection curtain is available in dimensions of up to 5 × 5 metres.

If smoke develops in the event of a fire, the fire protection curtain closes automatically within just 6 seconds per metre. The textile fire protection curtain is controlled using control unit FSA-FLEXControl supplied as standard. When combined with optical or thermal fire detectors, which monitor the door area, it complies with the requirements of EN 14637. The control unit can also be connected to the building’s fire alarm system.
The FlexFire fire protection curtain from Hörmann has a curtain that is only 0.5 millimetres thin and extra narrow side guides, which allow the textile fire protection to be integrated into the building in a particularly inconspicuous way.
ift Rosenheim has issued an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for the Hörmann FlexFire fire protection curtain in accordance with ISO 14025, permitting the use of the fire protection curtain in certified sustainable buildings.
